Red letter day in attempted domestication!

So this morning I finished the fruit roll ups... and this afternoon pizza..with a crust from scratch :D Yay me!
Combine-
2 c. flour
1 tsp. salt
2 tsp. baking powder
2/3 c. water
1/4 c. vegetable oil

kneed on a floured surface until dough is workable
transfer to pan, stretch out to shape and size desired

Top with sauce and other toppings you want. I did tomato sauce, parm, garlic garlic from Tastefully Simple as well as the Spinach Artichoke dip mix and mozz

place in a 425 degree oven for 20 min and manga!

I did remake this later and put the spices IN the crust with parm and then did some oil over the crust with more parm and prebaked it for 10 min then topped it with sauce and cheese... much tastier :D

Home made fruit roll ups

So my attempt at domestication today is....
fruit roll ups. My munchkin loves these corn syrup filled sugar fruit flavored leathers so when I found a recipe for home made ones on disneyfamily.com... well I figured it cant hurt to try them right?
so this is my attempt...
The recipe calls for 8ounces of dried fruit and 1.5c water well the 8oz packet of fruit was $4 and the 6oz bag was $2...yeah we got the 6oz bag
So you simmer the fruit in the water for about 30 min or so until the fruit is soft...
when they are done they should look kinda like this (I used Apricots BTW)

One word of warning.... that FB message that comes up when you SHOULD be checking on the fruit (cause I dont care that the recipe says 30 min...for me it took like 12) CHECK THE FRUIT! cause this.... is what happens...that was attempt #1 with a mixed fruit of mango, pineapple, and papaya

So move them from the pot to a blender and puree the fruit... BTW this has taught me I want a food processor..specifically the Ninja cause well the blender is evil the 6oz of fruit is hard to puree in a full size blender

so after you have pureed the heck outta the poor unsuspecting fruit pour it onto a cookie sheet lined with tin foil that has been coated with cooking spray. Spread evenly making sure there is no holes in the puree

place in a 250 degree oven for 25 minutes. At the end of the 25 minutes turn off the oven WITHOUT OPENING THE DOOR. Let the tray remain in the oven for 8 hours.

Peel the fruit off the tray gently place on wax paper right side up and cut into strips or shapes and NOM but I didnt do that part... I am out of wax paper and have no desire to run out and buy some so I used a cookie cutter and viola I got apricot leather acorns (I'm just not telling munchkin they are fruit leathers...she'll have an 8 year old melt down and well I dont have the energy to deal with that today)

so yeah...

the "holding my self accountable" thing really hasnt worked. I would like to blame the current resident in my gut (aka Baby #2 thats coming around Christmas) for my laziness in all matters cause well he cant argue his innocence in the matter.
I have been failing MISERABLY at trying to be more domestic..le sigh tomorrow is a new day. I did do a bunch of cleaning yesterday but that set off some contractions so... well I always knew housework would kill me one day lol
Oh BTW anyone know how to survive the preteen drama of a little girl? I would love to hear it... my munchkin is KILLING me!!! Her attitude will be the death of me! I hope my husband is prepared to be a single dad cause UGH
