Book Review: Soulstone
So kiddies here it is...that book review I promised you about Soulstone by Katie Salidas. Well the latest installment of the Immortalis series was not a disappointment at all. I particularly enjoyed the continuing development of Nicholas, in this novel he starts to become more then a cranky, old solider who seems to only brood around, in this novel he has a sense of humor! Also the continuing love affair between our favorite human and a certain fuzzy, piece of eye candy :D
I wont go into too much detail about this one in particular (I don't want to give too much away!) but you should pick up a copy...like NOW! Seriously...get the series :D DO ITTTT!!!!!

Book Review coming soon!
I have been reading the Immortalis Series by Katie Salidas and I am completely hooked! I am one of those people who get very involved with the characters in the books that I read so character development is very important to me. Well Katie does not disappoint! Set in Sin City the Immortalis Series centers on Alyssa, a newly turned Vampire, and her sire and mate Lysander. We all can see some of ourselves in Alyssa, a magnet for trouble who is having difficulties accepting her new life style and we all want a Lysander in our lives (a living Greek statue who is devoted to Alyssa). When Katie released book 4 of the series "Soulstone" she put an open call for bloggers to review her newest addition and of course I jumped at the chance! That is the book I will be reviewing here for you soon! Look for the review next week, and in the meantime do yourself a favor & go buy the series!

Kid friendly and EXTREMLY simple (also cheap)
So one thing all mil spouses deal with is how to feed the brood without going bankrupt, which is a challenge (esp when you have 2 human garbage disposals to feed like I do). Mac n Cheese is a major staple in this house but plain Mac n Cheese wont cut it for my meat and potatoes hubby...the answer is add meat! On rotation is Chilli Mac (chilli sans the beans), Taco Mac (taco meat), Chicken Veggie Mac (Can of chicken with a bag of corn & peas). Newest item in the rotation....
Country Sausage Mac
Brown a pound of country sausage add it to a cooked thing of mac n cheese. Then add a bag of cooked peas and dinner is ready :D

Also for dessert.... Blueberry 2 ingredient cake :D
Take 1 box of Angel Food Cake mix and add 1 can of Blueberry pie filling (any berry filling is OK)
then bake according to the package directions (do NOT add anything else to the mix!)
BTW the box will say that it isnt done until the crack in it is dry...that doesnt apply here
finished product:

serve with cool whip :D

So I made this the other day and it was really good! Its also wicked easy!
You need.....

plus

and
(actually you need 9-10 corn tortillas warmed in the oven @ 400 degrees for about 4 min on one side 2 or so on the other)
as well as a medium onion diced, shredded cheese and 2 tbsp of chilli seasoning
What you need to do;
1. after browning the meat (with the onion) add the seasoning, taco sauce, corn & can of rotel. Simmer until the corn is cooked

2. layer bottom of the baking dish with 3 or so of the tortillas then layer with half the cheese
3. layer with another 3 tortillas and then repeat #2

4. Top with remaining tortillas and cheese
5. Bake at 350 until heated through and top with crumbled up remaining tortillas
Viola!

So updates and stuff
So the game... I called it in and did bottled water and had another mom bring snack. She did oranges and Special K bars (not the worse things ever but I am a little concerned with giving 8 year old girls special K bars...better get used to that diet food now honey :/ )
Since then I have not been doing much in the whole fine tuning my domestic skills area... we got our tax return so I have been ordering take out A LOT and I have gotten lazy around the house. BUT this week I have been good! I have cooked dinner (and a real dinner) every night BUT last night. I went to a pot luck so I brought beer bread, 3 dips, a cake and meatballs (BTW if you havent ever had beer bread go to Tastefully Simple's web site and order some NOW! You can thank me later) while I was eating my mismatched noms with friends the hubby was on SWTOR killing random pixelated Rebels and eating frozen pizza (aka nerd paradise... well almost there was no dorritos, mountain dew, or hot chick dressed as slave girl Leia... it was as close as his ass is ever gonna get though lol)
I will be posting the recipes and such (for the successes... the failures we will never speak of those) soon. But I am gonna end it here because I feel like baking and since it is again midnight Wookie gets to take Brownies to work. I will spend a portion of tomorrow contemplating how to get the guys at work to conspire with me to embarrass him on Sunday since he is working on his birthday :D

Hmmm should I bother with sleep?
So I am tired... I really am but IDK if its even worth it to sleep. Its almost 3am and well the interwebz is too entertaining tonight! I am in an online mommies group and there was some drama to catch up on, then I signed up for a book review (which will be on here in May and I am SO WICKED EXCITED!), and had to try to figure out what to bring for snack on Sunday to my kids game (see post before this for that rant) and yeah its 3am. I SHOULD probably try to do something useful like clean or exercise but I think I will find the remains of my double stuff oreo stash and plant my chubby butt on the couch since hubby is working tonight that means I dont need to share :D <3
